Dog commands: (human suggestions:)
Drop it. (Stop alcohol or drugs.)
Leave it. (Keep doing that each day.)
Come. (Come to meetings.)
Sit. (Sit in meetings and listen.)
Stay. (Stay until it becomes habit.)
Wait. (Wait for the miracle—and there is one.)
Heel (Heal). (Heal—witness your healing and others around you.)
This is an illustration of what happens when we get sober. It’s a simple program, but it’s not easy. If we can take a lesson from dogs and pay attention to our Master, we will get the treat.
Don’t quit five minutes before the miracle.
“Now there is in Jerusalem near the Sheep Gate a pool…here a great number of disabled people used to lie…One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?”
John 5:2-6
(The man gives an excuse…)
“Then Jesus said to him, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.” At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked.”
John 5:8-9
